Two top cops, a serving and another retired died within hours of each other bringing a pall of gloom in the country’s bureaucracy. The chief of elit Special Protection Group (SPG) Arun Kumar Sinha passed away after battling cancer. The 1987 batch IPS officer was liked by his colleagues and friends and was known to be very hard working and dynamic. Within hours of Arun Sinha’s death, another senior IPS officer and former top cop of CBI Arun Gupta died while being taken for a surgery at a Delhi hospital. The 1985 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre was known for his ways of tackling Jangalmahal and firing in Nandigram. Gupta had successfully battled cancer but had a troubled knee. He had told his friends and relatives that he will get knee replaced for better movement. Gupta was known for his smile and amiable nature. He was always ready to help. Gupta leaves a vacuum which will be difficult to fulfil.
