In a significant development concerning the Tirupati Laddu Prasadam controversy, Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila has called for a CBI inquiry. Speaking outside the Raj Bhavan after meeting with the Governor, Sharmila stated, "We requested the Governor to take the initiative for a CBI inquiry, and he responded positively."

She elaborated on the issues at hand, highlighting a national dairy development board report that raised serious concerns over the quality of ingredients used in 'naivedyam' for the Tirupati temple. According to Sharmila, the report indicated that fish oil, beef tallow, and pig fat were used, with ghee for Prasadam procured at a staggering cost of Rs 1,600 per kg, while the actual ghee for the offerings was obtained for only Rs 320.

"We demand a CBI inquiry into this matter," she emphasized, questioning why former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu did not disclose this information to the people of Andhra Pradesh. The Congress leader's statements have sparked a renewed debate over transparency and accountability in the management of temple offerings.
