The Indian delegation to the Paralympics in Paris was encouraged by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya to participate at the highest level and provide the greatest performance to date.

The athletes were referred to as the “pride of the nation” at a heartfelt send-off ceremony held in the capital by Mandaviya and Ms. Raksha Khadse, the Minister of State for Sports, who both expressed faith in the athletes' ability to pen many more inspirational tales on their amazing voyage.

Double gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia, the president of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), expressed confidence that the largest-ever group of 84 athletes would bring home more than 25 medals from Paris.
