Mahavir Phogat, uncle of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, shared insights into her successful strategy and his high hopes for her performance. Reflecting on Vinesh's match against Japanese wrestler Yui Susaki, he noted, "The first round was the toughest against the Japanese wrestler. I had a word with her brother Harvinder in the morning and told them that the Japanese girl would deploy the leg attack strategy, you have to be wary of it. In the first round, you have to focus on defense and in the second, you have to attack."
Mahavir praised Vinesh for executing the plan effectively, stating, "She did as per my advice after beating that wrestler. I have full hopes that she would win the gold medal."
He expressed strong confidence in Vinesh's potential to fulfill national expectations, saying, "She will fulfill the Olympic hopes of the nation in wrestling that the people had from her in the previous Olympics too and she will not let them down this time," referring to Vinesh reaching the semifinals of the 50-kg weight category.
