BY A STAFF REPORTER: Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday laid the foundation stone of the Ram Temple at the premises of Unai Mata Temple in Gujarat's Navsari.

The Unai Mata Mandir holds significance in the Hindu epic Ramayana as Goddess Sita, Lord Ram's wife, wanted to take a bath in winter during their exile. Hence, Lord Ram hit the ground with his arrow which resulted in a hot water fountain. After taking a bath, Sita uttered 'hu naahi' (I took a bath) upon which the place is named 'Unai'.

The Ram Temple consecration rituals began on January 16 Tuesday and will continue for seven days. The idol of Lord Ram will be placed today at the sanctum sanctorum. Over 7,000 dignitaries will be attending the grand Pran-Pratishtha ceremony on 22nd January in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
