Airport authorities, police declare war on touts, illegal parking

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Airport Authorities of India and Bidhannagar police have finally woken up to the menace of illegal parking and presence of touts in front of the arrival gates of the city airport. The Airport Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria held a meeting with the deputy commissioner of police, traffic, Nimu Bhutia and other officials of the Bidhannagar police and traffic officers to discuss ways to streamline parking and initiate action against the touts. 

``We are determined to erase the menace of illegal parking. We have alloted dedicated parking lots but several drivers are circumventing the law. I have requested the police to take strong action,'' Beuria said. ``Police have initiated cases against illegal operators and raids will be conducted more frequently,''Bhutia said. The meeting also discussed the initiation of Yatri Sathi cab booking application and the manner in which it will be implemented to ensure seamless travel for passengers.
