BSP Chief Mayawati Demands Bharat Ratna For Dalit Personalities

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and BSP Chief Mayawati on Friday demanded Bharat Ratna for Dalit personalities while congratulating the recent awardees of Bharat Ratna. 

Taking it to her X handle, Mayawati welcomed the latest awardees of Bharat Ratna. However, she also stated that neglecting the Dalit personalities in this regard is not right. She further demanded that Kanshi Ram, who was the 'messiah' of Dalits and the neglected section of the society, shall also be honoured with Bharat Ratna. Mayawati also recalled that after a protracted delay, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was honoured with Bharat Ratna.

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today that Former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh along with Dr. MS Swaminathan will be honoured with Bharat Ratna.

1. वर्तमान भाजपा सरकार द्वारा जिन भी हस्तियों को भारतरत्न से सम्मानित किया गया हैै उसका स्वागत है, लेकिन इस मामले में ख़ासकर दलित हस्तियों का तिरस्कार एवं उपेक्षा करना कतई उचित नहीं। सरकार इस ओर भी ज़रूर ध्यान दे।
