BY A STAFF REPORTER: West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday shared that he will write a letter to the Governor and other officials seeking an extension of central forces' deployment in the view of post-poll violence.

Suvendu Adhikari stated that he will address a letter to the Governor of West Bengal, Union Home Secretary, and Chief Secretary of the West Bengal government seeking an extension of central forces' deployment even after the completion of the MCC (Model Code of Conduct) for the next three months. He recalled the previous post-election violence as a reason behind his demand. Adhikari emphasized that central forces should remain in the state to save the common people and voters for the greater interest of the Constitution and democracy.

West Bengal witnessed large-scale violence and clashes between members of prominent political parties including TMC, BJP, and CPI-M during local elections in July 2023. The incident led to significant destruction of properties, injuries, and deaths.
