BY A STAFF REPORTER: Congress MP and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday defended the Katchatheevu handover and questioned if anyone lives on that island.
When asked about the island, Digvijaya Singh asked "Does anyone live on that island?". He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about baseless issues. Moreover, Singh also reacted to Narendra Modi's latest visit to the naxal hub Balaghat and argued why the BJP is lagging in giving rights to the tribals.
The Katchatheevu is a disputed uninhabited island measuring 285 acres in the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka. Both countries have kept claiming the island since 1921. However, the issue was highlighted again as PM Modi recalled the island in his rally in Meerut on Sunday and took a dig at the Congress over the ceding of Katchatheevu Island to Sri Lanka in 1974.
