DGGI Annual Conference 2024: Key Sessions and Expert Insights Await in Siliguri

By A Staff Reporter: The DGGI Annual Conference 2024 is scheduled to commence on September 14, 2024, at the Conference Hall in Siliguri. The event will be inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, CBIC, and Shri Rajiv Talwar, Member (Compliance Management), CBIC, with a ceremonial lighting of lamps.

Shri Anil kumar Gupta, The Principal Director General of DGGI, will deliver the keynote address on strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms. Following this, Sh. Nimba Ram, Additional Director General (ADD), Headquarters, and Sh. Mandeep Kumar Batish, Joint Director (JD), Headquarters, will present an overview of DGGI’s performance. Sh. Sudhanshu Rai, ADD, Headquarters, will review the Action Taken Report (ATR) from the previous year’s conference.

Highlights include the launch of the RAPID/E-Coffee Table Book and the felicitation of Sh. Jomy Jacob, ADD, and Ms. Malyaj Singh, Deputy Director (DD). Dr. Manoj Kumar, Additional Director General (ADG), Ludhiana Zonal Unit (ZU), will present a report on enforcement procedures to uphold taxpayer dignity.

The conference will feature the release of the Annual Report for FY 2023-24 and the Darpan Hindi Magazine, along with a celebration of DGGI Day with a short video film and a signature tune.

Forenoon sessions will cover GST investigations and issues related to fake billing and black money, led by Sh. Rajesh Jindal, Director General (DG), SNU North, and Sh. V. M. Jain, Commissioner, GST Investigations, CBIC. Dr. N. K. Soren, DG, SNU West, will oversee discussions on best practices in tax enforcement.

Afternoon sessions will focus on effective investigation strategies and technical advancements, with presentations by Sh. M. M. Parthiban, Hon’ble Member Technical, CESTAT, Mumbai, and insights into DGGI’s analytical capabilities by Ms. V. Usha, DG, DGARM, and Sh. Rewat Raja Bahl, ADG, DG Systems. A session on SOP for identifying non-genuine taxpayers will be led by Sh. B. B. Gupta, Principal ADG, Delhi ZU, and Sh. Shafat Ahmad Usmani, Principal ADG, Mumbai ZU.

Day 2 will feature discussions on work-life balance by Sh. Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Ex-IRS, and strategies for addressing economic crimes with Sh. Subhash Aggarwal, Special Director, ED, Kolkata. The conference will conclude with an open house session chaired by the Principal DG, DGGI, Shri Anil Kumar Gupta and a summary of the proceedings by Sh. A. R. S. Kumar, DG, SNU South. The event will be rounded off with a vote of thanks by Sh. Ashish Mishra, ADG, Siliguri ZU, and a closing lunch.
