BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Election Commission of India served a notice to Congress MP Randeep Surjewala over remarks against BJP MP Hema Malini on April 9, Tuesday.
The ECI has sought a response from Randeep Surjewala by April 11 at 5:00 PM. Along with this, the ECI has demanded action from the Congress' President Mallikarjun Kharge on ensuring respectful public discourse towards women by party leaders and functionaries. It also reminded the party that the election campaign cannot become a platform to dishonor women in any way.
While addressing a public rally, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala passed an offensive statement against BJP Lok Sabha Candidate for Mathura and veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini. However, Surjewala has denied passing those statements and accused the BJP of manipulating the video.
