BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a controversial statement, Rajasthan's Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot slammed the BJP-ruled central government for the ongoing farmers' protest and termed it as a failure of the BJP government on 15th February, Thursday.
Moreover, Gehlot argued that Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanded for MSP from the UPA government when he was the CM of Gujarat. He further argued that the government had enough time to communicate with farmers since the abrogation of farm laws. Gehlot asserted that the Congress party stands with the farmers and justice will prevail.
Farmers organized a 'rail roko' (halt rail) protest today in Punjab against the use of tear gas shells and water cannons against the protesting farmers. The authorities used tear-gas shells and water cannons to disperse the massive crowd of protesting farmers who were en route to Delhi to participate in the large-scale farmers' protest, namely the 'Delhi Chalo March', predominantly seeking legal assurance of MSP (minimum selling price). The protests grew violent on the Haryana-Shambhu border as the agitated protesters vandalized flyover barricades.
