Kolkata: In a shocking turn of events, five personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were arrested for allegedly conducting a fake income tax raid and looting cash and gold from a residence in Chinar Park on March 18. The incident, reminiscent of the Bollywood film Special 26, has sent ripples through the security establishment, prompting swift action from the CISF.

Following the arrests, the CISF launched an internal inquiry into the matter. On the basis of the findings, the paramilitary force announced today that all five accused personnel have been suspended. Officials stated that if the allegations are fully proven, the accused could face dismissal.

The Incident Unfolds

According to reports, on March 18, a group of individuals posing as income tax officers entered a house in Chinar Park and conducted what appeared to be a routine raid. However, these were not fraudsters disguised as security personnel—they were actual CISF jawans. The team, which included a woman constable, allegedly looted ₹3 lakh in cash and a significant quantity of gold.

Their plan initially went smoothly, but soon after the ‘raid,’ the victims grew suspicious. Realizing that something was amiss, they promptly approached Baguiati police station and lodged a complaint. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrests of five CISF personnel.

The arrested individuals have been identified as CISF Inspector Amit Kumar Singh and constables Ramu Saroj, Jitendra Sau, Lakshmi Kumari, and Thapa. As the police dug deeper, they discovered another startling detail—one of the complainants’ stepmothers had prior contact with one of the accused. Investigators believe this connection played a key role in the planning of the crime.

Amit Kumar Singh is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation. He allegedly orchestrated the fake raid with the help of his colleagues. Singh was previously posted at Farakka Barrage, while Lakshmi Kumari was stationed at R.G. Kar Hospital.
