Full Emergency Declared at Kolkata Airport For Few Minutes On Friday

BY A STAFF REPORTER: A full emergency was declared at the Kolkata Airport at 10:59 AM on Friday after the windshield of an Alliance Air flight from Gauhati to Kolkata cracked before touchdown. The aircraft was given priority landing and all emergency operations like ambulance, fire fighters, and airport personnel handling emergencies were deployed.

The passengers were allowed to disembark as per emergency protocol. Airport authorities claimed that there had been no reports of any injuries to any passengers or crew members of the aircraft. Authorities have begun an investigation as to what led to the wind shield cracking mid air before touchdown.

According to Air Traffic control, the full emergency was withdrawn around 11:21 AM and the aircraft parked at stand 32. Incidentally, there have been no incidents of bomb threat calls till Friday evening, according to director of Kolkata Airport, Pravat Ranjan Beuria. Officials of the Bureau of Civil Aviation and Security (BCAS) told ANM News that a probe is currently on and efforts are on to trace the source from where such threats were uploaded on X handle.
