Kolkata, West Bengal: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central, Indira Mukherjee, has addressed concerns regarding the RG Kar rape-murder case, specifically allegations of evidence tampering. In a recent statement, Mukherjee responded to claims made by a news channel that showed a video and images from the crime scene, raising questions about potential unauthorized access and evidence interference.

"We have observed that a particular news channel aired a video and images from the seminar hall, the site of the alleged incident," Mukherjee said. The footage in question showed several individuals within the cordoned-off area, leading to concerns about who these people were and whether they had tampered with evidence.

Mukherjee clarified that the individuals present in the images and video were all accounted for. "We have taken a still from the video and have been able to identify everyone present. All individuals behind the cordon, including forensic officials, police officers, and other authorized personnel, are known to us and were part of the official investigation process," she added.

She assured that the scene was secured, and the inquest process had been completed with no unauthorized entry. "The video and images depict the period after the inquest process was over, and at no point did unauthorized individuals enter the area," Mukherjee emphasized, underscoring the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
