Kolkata's Durga Puja - 'Santoshpur Lake Pally' - Inaugurated Before Shashti: Know the Date

By A Staff Reporter: One of the major pujas in Kolkata, the 'Santoshpur Lake Pally' Durga Puja, is set to showcase the theme 'Chalchitra' this year. While Durga Puja traditionally starts from Shashti according to Shastra, the Bengali Durga Puja begins after Mahalaya. The inauguration for Santoshpur's celebration will be held on October 3, just a day after Mahalaya. Entering its 67th year, the puja is being overseen by Abhijit Ghatak Mahashay with a total budget of ₹50 lakhs.

Santoshpur Lake Pally’s Durga Puja is renowned for its creative and aesthetic approach, attracting huge crowds every year. This year's theme, ‘Chalchitra,’ pays homage to the traditional art form that decorates the backdrop of Durga idols, symbolizing a seamless blend of age-old customs with modern craftsmanship.

The preparations have already begun in full swing, promising another year of artistic excellence and devotion.
