Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari tweeted about Hul Diwas on Friday. In a tweet, he wrote, "Hul" in the Santhali language means Revolution. The "Hul Diwas" commemorates the beginning of the 1855 Santhal Insurrection, led by the Santhal Murmu brothers; Sidho, Kanhu, Chand & Bhairab against the British. The Santhal Insurrection of 1855, which made the British jittery, happened two years before the Sepoy Mutiny; the First War of Indian Independence. On the occasion of "Hul Diwas", I salute the indomitable spirit, bravery, sacrifice and the extraordinary legacy of the unsung heroes who led the rebellion against the British Govt.’
