BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the Archeological Survey of India will begin a survey of Bhojshala in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh on March 22, Friday.
After the orders of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the ASI released a notification today regarding the survey of Bhojshala. Furthermore, Professor Alok Tripathi, DG of ASI, demanded adequate security for the team and safe access to the site.
The Bhojshala is a disputed site between Hindu and Muslim communities, with both claiming the site for their religious significance. Moreover, Muslims are allowed to perform prayers on the site on Fridays while Hindus are allowed to pray on the site on Tuesdays and during Saraswati Puja. As of now, the Archaeological Survey of India protects Bhojshala as a Monument of National Importance.
