Alipurduar: The West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB), under the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative, organized nature study camps, workshops, and model exhibitions in Alipurduar to raise awareness about environmental conservation. The event was attended by WBPCB Chairman Dr. Kalyan Rudra, who addressed students on the importance of sustainable living.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Rudra stated, "We have tried to educate students about seven key environmental goals, such as avoiding plastic, preventing water wastage, reducing energy consumption, managing waste properly, and consuming food sustainably by minimizing food waste."
Mission LiFE, a nationwide initiative, focuses on individual and community-driven environmental actions. The event aimed to instill eco-friendly habits among young minds and encourage them to adopt responsible practices in daily life.
Dr. Rudra also stressed the importance of behavioral changes at the grassroots level to combat environmental challenges. He urged students to take small but impactful steps to protect the planet, such as using reusable materials, conserving natural resources, and practicing proper waste segregation.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, educators, and environmentalists, who engaged in interactive sessions and practical demonstrations. WBPCB officials stated that similar initiatives would be conducted in other districts to expand environmental awareness.
