BY A STAFF REPORTER: Shortly after Digvijaya Singh's statement, BJP Candidate Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday slammed Congress and stated that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's mentality is still alive in Congress over the Katchatheevu issue.

Taking it to her X handle, Kangana posted that the Nehruvian mentality of calling Aksai-Chin a barren land is alive in the Congress and it is reflected in Digvijaya Singh's statement concerning the Katchatheevu Island. She further asserted that this mentality hindered development in remote areas of India under the Congress rule.

Ranaut maintained that this is the new India where tap water is reaching the highest polling station 'Tashigang' and High-altitude villages like Himachal Pradesh's Komik have better road connectivity while every home is lit up with electricity.

Kangana Ranaut also asserted that there will be no compromise with the Country's geographical integrity and India will respond to those who possess such mentality.

The statement comes after Congress MP and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh defended the Katchatheevu handover and asked if anyone resides on the island.

The Katchatheevu is a disputed uninhabited island measuring 285 acres in the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka. Both countries have kept claiming the island since 1921. However, the issue was highlighted again as PM Modi recalled the island in his rally in Meerut on Sunday and took a dig at the Congress over the ceding of Katchatheevu Island to Sri Lanka in 1974.
