RPF On High Alert As Railways Braces Upto Cyclone Dana

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been put on high alert following reports of cyclone Dana making a landfall between Puri and Sagar island at a wind speed of 110 to 120 Kilometres per hour. Speaking exclusively to ANM News, Inspector general of RPF, Sanjay Mishra said all night trains of South Eastern Railway and East Coast Railway and many of Eastern Railway plying between October 24 and October 25 have been cancelled.

The railways is bracing up for a hit on their infrastructure as there is fear that the cyclone at a wind speed of 110 to 120 KM per hour might uproot electric poles and cause damage to overhead wires and other railway properties at the stations. RPF men have been put on high alert and an integrated control room has been made operational to figure out the damages and take action.

Railways are primarily concerned about trees falling on overhead wires and railway tracks in East Coast, South Eastern and Eastern Railway areas which are likely to be affected by cyclone Dana.
