Sandeshkhali Station-in-charge Biswajit Sapui Transferred

OC Biswajit Sapui has been transferred amid the backlash faced by the police administration for the Sandeshkhali incident and for failing to take adequate measures to address the issue.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the station-in-charge of Sandeshkhali police station, North 24 Parganas has been transferred to Basirhat on 9th March, Saturday. 

Moreover, Sapui has been transferred amid the backlash faced by the police administration for the Sandeshkhali incident and for failing to take adequate measures to address the issue.

The administration has termed it as a routine transfer. However, Biswajit Sapui took over the office three months ago. He will be replaced by Gopal Sarkar

The teams of CBI and CSFL visited Sandeshkhali to conduct search operations in connection with the case. Consequently, the CBI detained one person in connection with the Sandeshkhali issue.

The CBI took over Sandeshkhali accused Shahjahan Sheikh's custody from the West Bengal CID after the second order of the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday transferred the Sandeshkhali case including the attack on ED sleuths and allegations on Shahjahan Sheikh to the Central Bureau of Investigation. 

Prime accused in the Sandeshkhali matter, Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested on 29th February, Thursday. He was suspended for six years by the Trinamool Congress. 

A village located in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Sandeshkhali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. Shahjahan Sheikh remained absconding since 5th January after an ED team was attacked by a large mob while conducting raids at Shahjahan's residence.
