ED officials and central forces personnel were attacked in Sandeshkhali. Meanwhile, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla has raised his voice over the matter. He says, "When we speak of dictators across the world, we think of Uganda's Idi Amin. Nowadays, when we speak of dictators, we speak of 'Didi'. The journey from Idi Amin to Didi is clearly visible in West Bengal today. TMC today means 'Talibani Mansikta Culture' and not Trinamool Congress...If the officials of ED and CRPF are not safe and are attacked by a mob because they were exposing corruption it shows how corruption and political violence have been institutionalised in West Bengal after TMC came to power there...Why are Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and people of the INDI alliance silent over that?"
