Khutipuja at Labony Housing Estate

BY A SAFF REPORTER: This year Labony Housing Estate proudly celebrates 50 golden years of Labony Estate Durga Puja with grandeur and splendor. The auspicious occasion of Khuti Puja was marked the genesis of this year’s commemoration of Durga Puja on Sunday, 28th July 2024 at 11a.m. in the central place of Labony Housing Estate.

The event was graced by Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of Fire and Emergency services, Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Sujit Bose &  Hon’ble Member of MIC & Councillor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Smt. Tulsi Sinha Roy & other dignitaries. They were welcomed by President of Labony Abasik Samity (LAS) Shri Saikat Kumar Dutta, President of Durga Puja committee Shri Arun Kumar Dasgupta, Secretary of LAS Shri Sumit Sarkar & Treasurer of LAS Shri Abhay Jaiswal & other Puja Committee members.

The celebration was also shared with a group of under privileged and specially abled children. Their joyful presence and companionship was a special inducement for residents of Labony Estate. The ceremony saw a foot fall of over 2500 residents from 700 flats of Labony Housing Estate.

The ritual of Khuti Puja was followed by the ceremonial installation of decorated bamboo pole at the site of the main puja pandal. The occasion witnessed a brief cultural programme performed by tribal dancers with male and female Dhakis, reflecting the rich & rustic cultural heritage of Bengal. The programme was concluded with community Lunch upholding the spirit of brotherhood and mutual camaraderie. Shri Pranab Roy served the role of a perfect host for the occasion.
