Kolkata: TMC national spokesperson Shantanu Sen has accused the BJP of stifling opposition voices, following an incident at a NITI Aayog meeting where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's microphone was allegedly switched off.

"NITI Aayog, which has replaced the Planning Commission, is working only at the behest of BJP," Sen stated. He explained that Banerjee, India's only female CM, was representing the entire INDIA alliance during the meeting.

"While she was pointing out the shortcomings of the Budget and how Bengal is not getting its due, after five minutes, her mic was switched off. This proves how the voice of the opposition is being throttled and how Parliamentary democracy and federal cooperation are being murdered under the Narendra Modi regime," he added.
