Kolkata, West Bengal: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has hailed the passage of a new anti-rape bill in the West Bengal Assembly, calling it a historic moment. Speaking on the significance of the legislation, Ghosh highlighted that this is the first time a bill has been passed under the Mamata Banerjee-led government to enforce stringent penalties for crimes involving rape and murder.

"History has been created in the West Bengal legislative assembly," Ghosh said. "For the first time, a bill has been passed by the Mamata Banerjee-led government to provide stringent punishment to those involved in incidents of rape and murder."

Ghosh also urged the Governor of West Bengal to give his assent to the bill, emphasizing the importance of its timely implementation. "The Governor of West Bengal should provide assent to the bill," he stated, underscoring the urgency and necessity of the new legislation to address serious crimes and enhance the safety and security of women in the state.
