By a staff reporter: Achipur is where the first Chinese landed in India. His name was Tong Achiew. He helped innovate and bring sugar production to India. He also helped innovate the tong-tong, which is a form of rickshaw. There is a temple in this holy place. Chinese people come to this place and pay respect to their ancestors by burning incense. It is an ancient and historical temple. It was built in 1718. Its year is engraved at the entrance. It is generally believed that the first Chinese settlement was established in the area in 1780. Hence, there is disagreement about the date mentioned in the entry.
