In a dramatic statement regarding the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case, Governor CV Ananda Bose has announced a social boycott of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Speaking to the media, Bose expressed his solidarity with the society of Bengal and outlined his decision to distance himself from the Chief Minister.
“In solidarity with the Bengal society, I resolve that I will socially boycott the Chief Minister,” Bose declared. He elaborated that this boycott entails not sharing any public platform with Banerjee and refraining from participating in any public programs involving her. “Socially boycott means I will not be sharing any public platform with the Chief Minister nor will I participate in any public program which involves the Chief Minister,” he specified.
Bose's statement was fueled by his distress over the serious allegations directed at the Kolkata Police Commissioner, who is responsible for maintaining law and order in the city. “I am deeply pained that serious allegations of a criminal nature have been levelled against the highest officer who is supposed to prevent crime in Kolkata, the Kolkata Police Commissioner,” Bose said.
The Governor’s decision reflects heightened tensions and dissatisfaction with the handling of the case and broader administrative issues. By focusing solely on his constitutional responsibilities, Bose aims to underscore his commitment to addressing the grave concerns surrounding the police's role in the case.
