...Will Implement Uniform Civil Code Across The State: Uttarakhand CM

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent development, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Thursday that implementation of the Uniform Civil Code is currently in talks.

While addressing a gathering of new voters on the occasion of National Voters' Day in Roorkee, Dhami revealed that a UCC committee under the chairmanship of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, has completed the draft. He further informed that a session with the assembly will be organized to implement the Uniform Civil Code throughout the state once the draft is received. 

The controversial Uniform Civil Code's purpose is to establish a uniform legal framework for all citizens irrespective of their faith or religion. As of now, laws regarding marriage, succession, and divorce vary due to the principles of diverse religions.
