BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the floor test for the newly formed Champai Soren-led government, former Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren on Monday asserted that he will quit politics if he is proven guilty in the alleged land scam case.
While addressing the state assembly, Soren challenged people to show documents of the land registered under him. He stated that he had been arrested on the charges of an 8.5-acre land scam.
Former CM Hemant Soren was arrested by ED officials under PMLA in connection with the alleged land and mining scam case. He was arrested shortly after resigning from the post of CM. Subsequently, Champai Soren was elected by JMM MLAs as the new CM of Jharkhand.
The government led by Champai Soren will face a floor test to prove their majority in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday, 5th February. Moreover, Champai Soren needs at least 41 votes to win the majority. JMM/Congress Alliance itself has 47 MLAs, BJP comprises 25 MLAs while All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) has three. Moreover, the NCP and left party have one each along with independent MLAs.
