BY A STAFF REPORTER : The Kuki-Zo protestors who had announced a shutdown along the Dimapur-Imphal-Churachandpur highway after a local was allegedly killed in police firing in Kangpokpi are most likely to withdraw it by tonight. The Centre has also ruled out any separate administrative set up for the hilly Kuki-Naga-Zo dominated areas.

Manipur police sources claimed that hundreds of trucks carrying essential items such as medicines and food are stuck near Senapati. Police have stopped the vehicles from plying although there are no roadblocks along the highway as they fear looting and arson. State Security advisor Kuldiep Singh is hopeful that the Kuki-Zo community leaders will see reason and withdraw the announcement of shutdown paving way for movement of vehicles.

"There have been no untoward incidents in the district over the past few days," she said.
