BY A STAFF REPORTER: As BJP defeats the AAP-Congress alliance in the Chandigarh Mayor election, Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the BJP of threatening and bribing Congress and AAP workers.
Kejriwal informed that the Chandigarh Mayor polls' presiding officer was a BJP worker. Moreover, the elections, which were initially scheduled for January 18, had been indefinitely postponed due to the presiding officer's poor health. Subsequently, AAP and Congress workers asked the court to set a date. Kejriwal further alleged that BJP workers tried to threaten and bribe AAP and Congress counselors in the meantime, but were unsuccessful. Shortly after BJP's victory in the Chandigarh Mayor elections, a clash broke out as Congress and AAP counselors accused Manoj Sonkar of winning through illegal means on Tuesday.
The Chandigarh Mayor Election results were announced today where BJP's Manoj Sonkar with 15 votes defeated AAP's Kuldeep Kumar, who secured 12 votes.
