In Delhi, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has sharply criticized Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), for his recent comments regarding Afzal Guru. Abdullah had suggested that Afzal Guru's hanging was unjust, a remark that Trivedi claims reveals a broader separatist agenda within the opposition alliance.
Trivedi questioned the integrity of the investigative agencies and the Supreme Court's judgment from the UPA era, implying that Abdullah's statements undermine the legal processes upheld by the highest institutions. He pointed out that the Supreme Court had described Guru's crime as "the rarest of the rare," questioning whether the judiciary and President of India were mistaken in their decisions.
The BJP MP also highlighted the Congress party's manifesto promises, including the restoration of Article 370 and previous statements by Farooq Abdullah about seeking support from China for this restoration. Trivedi argued that Congress’s alignment with separatist views is evident through proxy actions and criticized Rahul Gandhi for allegedly supporting anti-national sentiments during a recent event where chants in support of Afzal Guru were heard.
Trivedi's comments reflect ongoing tensions and criticisms between the BJP and opposition parties concerning national security and separatist issues. The debate over Abdullah’s remarks and the broader implications for the Congress party’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir continues to unfold.
