Ayodhya: Speaking at the grand Deepotsav celebrations along the banks of the Sarayu River, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed issues of divisiveness within Indian politics. Referring to unnamed political figures as “chachas and kakas” (uncles), Adityanath accused them of sowing discord among communities, likening these actions to those of Ravan and Mahabharata antagonists Duryodhan and Dushasan, whose divisive actions, he noted, led to well-known downfalls.

“This Deepotsav celebration not only illuminates Ayodhya but also serves as a reminder of the values that should unite our society,” Adityanath stated, emphasizing that “strengthening national unity through social unity” is the true spirit of the festival. He encouraged attendees to draw inspiration from the Deepotsav’s message of harmony to foster a sense of collective national identity that transcends political divides.

The event, which featured a record-setting 25 lakh diyas, celebrated the homecoming of Lord Ram, with a broader message of societal unity echoed by the Chief Minister.
