BY A STAFF REPORTER: Goalkeepers have played an important role in their team's success in the Indian Super League (ISL) over the years. GoalkeeperS Adele Bette, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Amarinder Singh have established themselves as reliable and outstanding performers in the league. Many goalkeepers have performed well in the ISL and here is a list of some of the star goalkeepers.

Vishal Keith: Keith joined The SG before 2022-23 and soon became an instant hit among the Mariners' faithful. He made the second highest number of saves last season and recorded a record 12 clean sheets among wicketkeepers by winning the ISL Golden Glove Award. A great season ended for Kaith with Mohun Bagan winning the SG ISL Cup. With MBSG earning a reputation as one of the league's strongest defenses, Keith's shot-stopping skills will be crucial for the team in the upcoming season.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu: Sandhu was at the top of the list of highest number of saves with 71 saves in 24 games last season. Apart from Gurmeet Singh of Hyderabad FC and Furba Lachenpa of Mumbai City FC, he has jointly recorded the second highest clean sheet of seven clean sheets.

Amarinder Singh: Singh kept just two clean sheets for Odisha FC in the ISL last season, but his presence in the stick was crucial. He made 55 saves in 21 matches and was an influential figure for Kalinga Warriors as Odisha FC made it to their maiden ISL playoffs. Singh is not only good at his feet but can also bowl the right long ball if needed. He was the only pitcher to have an assist last season.

Furba Lachenpa: After playing just four matches in two seasons of the ISL from 2020 to 2022, Lachenpa established the first-choice wicketkeeper for Mumbai City FC and played every minute. In addition to making 64 saves last season, the Sikkim-born goalie also had a total of seven shutouts. The same can be expected from Lachenpa again as Mumbai City FC look to build on their success from last season.

PrabhasuKhan Gill: After emerging as the ISL Golden Glove winner in the 2021-22 season, Gill could not replicate his heroics last season. However, the youngster, who had earlier worked with the Spanish strategist at Bengaluru FC, will have to prove a lot more after Joining East Bengal FC by Carlos Cuadrat. The Punjab-born wicketkeeper showed signs of his potential in the recently concluded Durand Cup to help the Red and Gold Brigade reach the final. He will be keen to add to his fine form in the upcoming ISL season.
