Ahmedabad, Gujarat: Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his silence on the United States’ imposition of tariffs on Indian goods. Speaking at a press interaction, Khera expressed concern over the lack of a public response from the government, saying that the Prime Minister’s silence is fueling uncertainty among the public and investors.

The biggest concern is the Prime Minister's silence. The US is openly mocking our country, our stock market, our economy—and the Prime Minister is silent,” said Khera. He pointed out that other affected nations, including Canada, China, Taiwan, the UK, and the European Union, have either issued formal responses or are in the process of doing so. “Here, we do not know. The opposition does not know. The people of the country do not know what the strategy is,” he added.

Khera urged the Prime Minister to address the nation and take the public into confidence regarding the government’s plan to safeguard India’s economic interests. “A statement from the Prime Minister is needed to maintain people’s confidence in the economy and the stock market,” he emphasized.

On the political front, Khera also commented on the upcoming Congress Working Committee meeting and the AICC session. “This is going to be historic. Its results will also be historic,” he declared. Referring to what he described as an “atmosphere of despair” in the country, Khera said, “The Congress is ready to take its responsibility to deal with that atmosphere of despair.”
