Malda — In a remarkable display of unity and communal harmony, members of the Muslim community in Malda are set to participate in the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations, scheduled for April 6. The development comes just days after the city celebrated Eid in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere, reinforcing Malda’s reputation as a beacon of religious coexistence.
According to local sources, a special meeting is set to be held on Thursday at Subhaspalli Eidgah ground to finalise the preparations for the joint celebrations. In what promises to be a powerful symbol of togetherness, Muslim residents have announced their plans to set up tents along Rajmahal Road during Sunday’s religious procession. From there, they will distribute drinking water, chocolates, and sweets to participants in the Ram Navami procession.
Notably, there is also talk of members of the Muslim community joining the actual procession—some even wearing traditional Islamic attire such as the taqiyah cap—though a final decision on this has yet to be taken.
This gesture comes at a time when recent tensions in Mothabari had sparked concerns in the region. However, the peaceful and joyous Eid celebrations seemed to have cooled tempers and brought people together. On that day, Malda city was bathed in moonlight and goodwill, highlighting its long-standing spirit of communal harmony.
