Raghunathpur, Purulia – The West Bengal Pollution Control Board, under the Department of Environment, Government of West Bengal, organized a Nature Study Camp, Workshop cum Model Exhibition under the Mission LiFE Programme at Joychandi Hill Resort, Raghunathpur, Purulia, on March 4th and 5th, 2025. The event aimed to educate students about environmental conservation, sustainability, and the importance of balancing ecological preservation with industrial growth.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Raghunathpur, Shri Vivek Pankaj, spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of environmental awareness among students. “This program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn directly from experts. The Chairman of the Pollution Control Board is also present, ensuring valuable insights for everyone,” he stated.
The workshop featured model exhibitions on rainwater harvesting and other sustainable practices, created by students from various schools. Alongside these displays, eminent speakers addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation, clean air, and water conservation.
“The environment is crucial for everyone, and we must preserve it as naturally as possible,” SDO Shri Vivek Pankaj remarked. He elaborated on how trees provide both oxygen and food while also contributing to mental well-being. “Parks and gardens serve as places of recreation and relaxation, highlighting the role of greenery in our lives,” he added.
Addressing concerns about industrial development, Shri Vivek Pankaj acknowledged the necessity of economic growth while stressing the importance of maintaining ecological balance. “People often express concerns about environmental pollution, and industries must ensure that pollution is minimized. We need a sustainable approach that supports both economic progress and environmental protection,” he said.
