Controversy surrounds the sudden change in state Pollution Control Board

BY A STAFF REPORTER

After he was unceremoniously removed, controversial IPS officer Dr Rajesh Kumar has once again been posted as the member secretary of the extremely powerful state Pollution Control Board. The 1990 batch IPS officer was sidelined after the TMC government came to power. Dr Kumar was initially ADG, provisioning and then subsequently became DG, traffic on promotion a few days earlier. In a late night order, Mamata Banerjee government removed Ms Roshni Sen as member secretary and replaced her with Dr Kumar. The state bureaucracy is tongue in cheek about the transfer as Ms Sen is known to be an officer with impeccable reputation and is credited for the success of Mamata government's favourite girl child scheme, Kanyashree.
