Pritilata Waddedar, The iron lady of bengal

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The sacrifice of The Iron Lady of Bengal is unforgettable. She was the first woman from Bengal to take up arms against the British Raj. At the age of 21, she sacrificed himself for the country and became immortal. To avenge the deaths of innocent Indians in the Jalalabad encounter, a group of revolutionaries devised a strategy to attack the hill-down European Club with the title - "Dogs and Indians are not allowed." Pritilata was selected to lead a team of 40 men for the mission in September 1932. He was dressed as a Punjabi man, while his associates wore lungis and shirts. She succeeded in putting up a siege and his team set the club on fire. There was a bloody clash with British officers chasing Pritilata and her team. He was badly injured in the attack. When she saw that there was no escape from the British, he ordered his comrades to run away and instead laid down his life. Pritilata died after consuming cyanide to avoid arrest. He refused to be caught by the British. She sacrificed her life for motherland when she was just 21 years old.
