By a staff reporter- After torrential rains produced floods in the eastern portion of the US state, at least 16 people have died in the Appalachians, in Kentucky. At the same time, other persons were rescued from the flood and carried to safety by boat. The number of fatalities is predicted to rise as the rescue teams comb the disaster region. The governor of Kentucky warned that it could take weeks to locate all those who perished in the flood that overwhelmed Appalachian villages and claimed at least 16 lives. The following days were expected to see further rain. The rescue squad encountered numerous obstacles while trying to save people.
According to Corey Watson, Beshear stated on Friday that there were at least six children among the victims and that as rescue teams expand their reach, the number of fatalities might more than double. Four children from the same Nott County family were among the deceased.
