New Delhi: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss key governance and policy matters related to the state.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Sawant briefed Shah on Goa’s progress in implementing new criminal laws, ongoing developments in the mining sector, and sought guidance on further administrative and developmental initiatives.

"Had a productive meeting with Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji in New Delhi today. Discussed key issues concerning Goa, including the implementation of new criminal laws, mining sector developments, and furthering administrative & developmental efforts," Sawant said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The mining sector has been a major issue for Goa, with efforts underway to resume full-scale operations after a prolonged legal and environmental battle. Additionally, the state is working to streamline its law enforcement infrastructure in alignment with the newly enacted criminal laws at the national level.
