Indian Coast Guard Rescues Body of Missing Fisherman, Mohan Majhi, in Successful Search Operation

On receipt of information, ICGS Kamladevi scheduled for deployment from Paradip was directed to undertake SAR of MOB.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: On 11 Jul 24 at 2015 hrs, CGDHQ-8, Haldia reported regarding MOB ex-IFB Jai Baba Loknath belongs to Diamond Harbour in position 160 Sagar Lt 43. The MoB occurred at 0345 hrs on 11 Jul 24. The name of MOB Shri Mohan Majhi.

On receipt of information, ICGS Kamladevi scheduled for deployment from Paradip was directed to undertake SAR of MOB. The ship reached DATUM 121600/Jul and undertook extensive search for MOB.

Message through NAVTEX was broadcasted through MRCC (CHN) and Airtask was undertaken by CGDO ex-CGAE (BSR) on 12 Jul 24 from 1145 hrs for SAR.

On 13 Jul 24 at 1430 hrs ICGS Kamladevi recovered unidentified body in position 150 Sagar Lt. 31.5 and found tatoo on Rt. Fore arm named Mohan Majhi. The ship entered Haldia alongwith body at 0300 hrs on 14 Jul 24 and handed over to local police at 0835 hrs.

The SAR case was terminated at 0845 hrs on 14 Jul 24 to-date.
