Chennai — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, speaking in the State Assembly on Monday, voiced strong criticism of the Union Government’s policies on education, asserting that education should be moved from the Concurrent List to the State List of the Constitution.
Stalin highlighted the continued opposition of his government to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), blaming it for the loss of several student lives in the state. “We have lost many students due to the NEET exam,” he said, adding that the entrance test disproportionately disadvantages rural and underprivileged students.
The Chief Minister also alleged that the Union Government is attempting to impose Hindi in Tamil Nadu under the guise of its three-language policy. “In the name of the triple language policy, the Union Government is trying to impose Hindi in Tamil Nadu. We will never allow this,” he stated firmly.
He further criticised the National Education Policy (NEP), which the state has rejected, claiming that as a result, the Centre has withheld ₹2,500 crore in educational funds. “Since we have denied NEP, ₹2,500 crore to the state has not been released by the Union Government,” Stalin claimed.
