Two Killed in Wild Elephant Attack in Kerala’s Vazhachal Forest

By A Staff Reporter

Thrissur, Kerala — In a tragic incident reported from the Vazhachal forest area in Thrissur district, two people lost their lives following an attack by a wild elephant. The victims, identified as Satheesh and Ambika, were residents of the Vazhachal region, according to the Vazhachal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).

The deceased had reportedly ventured deep into the forest three days ago to collect honey—a traditional livelihood activity for some forest-dwelling communities. While they were believed to be familiar with the forest terrain, the sudden encounter with the wild elephant turned fatal.

Forest officials rushed to the spot upon receiving information but found the victims already dead. The area is known for frequent elephant movement, especially during certain times of the year, which poses a consistent threat to those entering the forest for resources.
