New Delhi: External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar on Wednesday met Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Eduardo Martínez in the national capital, discussing key areas of development cooperation between the two nations.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar shared details on social media, stating, "Discussed our development cooperation, especially in health and traditional medicine." The discussions highlight India’s growing engagement with Cuba, particularly in sectors where India has made significant advancements.
India and Cuba share a strong diplomatic relationship, with India actively supporting Cuba in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. Traditional medicine, including Ayurveda, has been an area of interest for both countries, with Cuba showing increasing interest in adopting holistic healthcare practices.
The meeting also comes at a time when India is strengthening its global partnerships through development assistance and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in the Global South. Both leaders are expected to explore further collaborations in trade, medical research, and sustainable health practices.
