Kolkata: West Bengal BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul on Tuesday alleged that Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters attacked a group of BJP legislators while they were traveling under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari. Paul claimed that despite the presence of police personnel, no action was taken to control the situation.
Speaking to reporters, Paul said, “We had come here with all the MLAs under the leadership of honourable (West Bengal) LoP Suvendu Adhikari. While we were on our way, a lot of TMC supporters and hooligans were waving black flags at us and telling us to go back. The police were standing there, doing nothing.”

The BJP has accused the ruling TMC of political intimidation and alleged that such incidents reflect the deteriorating law-and-order situation in West Bengal. In response to the incident, Paul announced a large-scale protest on March 27 in front of the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Baruipur.
Meanwhile, the TMC has denied the allegations, dismissing them as political theatrics by the BJP. The party maintained that its supporters were protesting peacefully and accused the BJP of attempting to stir unrest in the state.
With political tensions running high, the upcoming protest is expected to further escalate the ongoing power struggle between the ruling TMC and the BJP in West Bengal.
