PM Modi Offers Condolences Over Kamla Beniwal's Demise

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences and expressed grief over the demise of veteran politician Kamla Beniwal on May 15, Wednesday.

Taking it to his X handle, PM Modi posted "Saddened by the passing away of Dr. Kamla Beniwal Ji. She had a long political career in Rajasthan, where she served the people with diligence. I had countless interactions with her when she was the Governor of Gujarat and I was the Chief Minister. Condolences to her family and friends. Om Shanti."

First woman minister of Rajasthan, Kamla Beniwal has served as the governor of various states between 2009 and 2014. Moreover, she is the maiden female governor of any Northeast state. Beniwal also served as the governor of Gujarat during Narendra Modi's Chief Ministerialship. She passed away at the age of 97 on May 15, Wednesday in Jaipur's Fortis Hospital.
