Rajeev back in business

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Top cop Rajeev Kumar, back as acting state director general of police has initiated major actions to curb the sudden spate of incidents in the state. Rajeev held a series of meeting with senior police officers to take stock of the situation. Incidentally, state government had nominated Rajeev for the top post after the retirement of Manoj Malviya last year but election commission had removed him from the post when the model code of conduct came into force for Lok Sabha polls.

ECI nominated Sanjay Mukherjee to head the state police force. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee replaced Sanjay with Rajeev Kumar after model code of conduct was withdrawn.
