By A Staff Reporter: West Bengal police claimed that there is no major law and order problem in Sandeshkhali. In a report submitted to the state police chief, senior police officers who were sent to the spot for an assessment onf the situation mentioned that grievances of the villagers might be genuine and there are tensions owing to political issues, but there have not been any major clashes or off shoot of violence. The acting state director general of police, Rajeev Kumar had sent a few senior officers to Sandeshkhali for an on spot assement and stock taking of the situation. Locals alleged that there has been large scale illegal immigration from across the border. The illegal settlers procured fake citizenship documents by allegedly paying money to local leaders of Trinamul Congress, the villagers claimed. Many locals complained to ANM News that these illegal settlers under the shelter of ruling party have grabbed land and bheris and are mamking merry right under the nose of the cops. ANM News sources indicated that initial police report indicated that problem and tension initiated out of the political issues.
